Something devastating happened in the year 2008. The housing market crashed and for many the loss of homes, jobs and even the reality of a normal life. In the wake of that terrible time however emerged the spirit of entrepreneurship in the United States. For decades, the dream of a small business lived in the minds of many, never taking fruit. It wasn’t until the unemployment rate rose that many people, specifically women starting seriously considering doing something with a deeper purpose.
This is Vanessa, the founder of Porque Si, a movement using clothing and fashion to embower women. Vanessa has a heart for collaborating with female business owners in Miami to help women experience that they can do anything that they put their mind to. As a start up Porque Si also partners up with Life of Freedom Network, an organization that raises awareness and supports the end of human trafficking. It was through friends from the Life of Freedom that I was able to meet Vanessa and truly listen to her vision. Today, I attended an excellent event filled with high quality women that were caring and filled with warmth. The venue? The adorable Chai Looks Boutique in Coral Gables. The event offered snacks, drinks, make up by Margie, owner of Glam and Go Miami not to mentioned guest speakers.
During my session, I was able to chat with Margie and discover that she wants to help women and others beyond makeup as well. Porque Si is dedicated to bringing together business owners and hard working women like Margie. I was thrilled with my make up at the end of my session and also discovered a wonderful makeup artist to connect with. You can follow her on Instagram @tiinym_
It’s an exciting time to be in Miami right now and see how it is maturing from a superficial party town to a place where causes that help our community can find a home. When I first began Lumina Massage, I was aligned with a mission to help women and children through bodywork. In prenatal massage, the care of the women begins. Whether she is a single mother or a wife of many years, self care is crucial. In that moment of peacefulness in her massage, a woman can release feelings of guilt. Gone are the misconceptions that massage is only a pampering session. As new studies in wellness arise, the public is beginning to understand the need for natural therapies.
At the time of this writing Lumina Massage will be celebrating its third anniversary this October. Step by step, I’m discovering new faces that see the importance of caring for the women in our community. If you’d like to find out more about how Lumina Massage chooses to support women and children view our mission here. Won’t you join me in this endeavor? You can find Porque Si fashion on Instagram and Facebook as well as email firstname.lastname@example.org. If this cause interests you, consider supporting by purchasing your Porque Si hat, shirt or any apparel proudly as we lift up the women in our lives.
